HEXE is a new vocal, physically-based concert presented by Capto Musicae. HEXE is partly based on the story of Johanne Pedersdatter, a 10th-generation ancestor of Ms. Meyer, who was burned as a witch in Stavanger, Norway in 1622. When confronted with a misguided mob´s prejudice, how do individuals react? Why do these “witch-hunts” continue to occur throughout the world today?
These themes serve as the creative starting points for HEXE´s original music, composed by multi-vocalists Meyer and Elle. In addition, by the encounter with Butoh, the artistic collective aims to reveal
the truth of this world which could be alternatively realistic and abstract. The physical landscape will be developed with stage director/choreographer Janne Hoem and dancers Mutsumi + Neiro.
